Planning each stage of your restoration

What happens during implant treatment?

Dental implant treatment involves several coordinated phases. At ZAK, we explain early which stages are planned and which decisions need further clinical information.

At a glance

Implant healing is only one part of the overall timeline. Preparation, making the restoration and reviews also belong in your appointment plan.

The main treatment stages

The main treatment stages
StageWhat we plan at ZAK
1. ExaminationYour wishes, clinical findings, medical history, imaging and scanning
2. DecisionsRestoration options, alternatives, costs and necessary preparation
3. SurgeryImplant placement and any additional procedures
4. Healing and reviewsIndividual review appointments and assessment of healing
5. RestorationDesign, fittings, adjustments and placement of the final teeth
6. AftercareCleaning, preventive care and further reviews

How long does healing take?

The European Federation of Periodontology gives approximately two to six months as a general guide for implant integration. This is not a fixed duration for your treatment. Preliminary care, bone grafting and making the restoration can require additional time.

We explain which phases follow from your findings. Healing is reviewed before the next step is agreed. Receiving temporary teeth early does not mean that the entire treatment has finished.

How many appointments will I need?

A reliable number follows from your individual treatment plan. Replacing a single tooth differs from restoring a complete arch, and the need for bone augmentation also affects the schedule.

At ZAK, diagnostics, surgery and our practice laboratory work closely together. This supports coordination between stages. Necessary reviews and healing periods remain part of the process.

Preparing for your consultation

Please also tell us if dental treatment makes you anxious. We can then prepare the consultation and discuss suitable support.

  • Existing X-rays and dental reports
  • Details of previous treatment and restorations
  • An up to date medication list and medical history
  • Your wishes concerning function, appearance and cleaning
  • If travelling: possible dates and practical constraints

Frequently asked questions

Can the complete treatment be finished in one day?

A procedure and a possible early restoration are not the same as completing the whole treatment. Healing, reviews and, where applicable, the final teeth follow afterwards.

When can I work or travel again?

This depends on the procedure, anaesthesia and recovery. Discuss your work, any companion you need and your return journey individually with the treatment team.

Do I need to stay in Berlin throughout healing?

Not necessarily. Your planned reviews and individual situation determine the arrangements. We discuss stays and aftercare in advance.
